KAZAKHSTAN CLAIMS THIRD PLACE AT CRESCENT CUP
CRESCENT CUP: KAZAKHSTAN 35 – LEBANON 25
Kazakhstan took the third place in the inaugural Crescent Cup Rugby Championship after defeating Lebanon 35-25. The third/fourth placing match at the Merlimau Polytech saw both team played their hearts out.
Kazakhstan got the first try of the match just after six minutes through Alexandr Zakharor. Ivan Bushmeler sent the ball through to extend Kazakhstan lead to 7 nil.
Lebanon showed great fighting spirit to get a try by Rohhan Zebib in the 18th minute. And Ben Abood did not make mistake to equalise the score.
Two minutes later, Kazakhstan were back infront after Ivan Olkhovskiy converted a penalty. Lebanon did not show any sign of giving up. The got another try from Joshua Nora in the 27th minute. Olkhovskiy scored another penalty for Kazakhstan in the 37th minute before Ben Abood gave Lebanon the half time lead from another penalty.
Kazakhstan were more organized in the second half. Three tries from Olkhovskiy, Roman Sorokodzyuba and Busmeler was good enough to pull them away beyond Lebanon’s reach.
Lebanon fought hard but can only managed to get a single try by Nelson Khoury. Olkhovskiy last minute penalty confirmed the third place finishing for Kazakhstan.
