FIJI ELIMINATE AUSTRALIA, FRANCE TO FACE GREAT BRITAIN IN SEMIFINALS
Fiji eliminated defending champions Australia in the Olympic Women Rugby quarterfinals. The Fijian women won 14-12 to set-up a semifinal showdown with New Zealand. The Black Ferns confirmed their place in the semifinals after defeating Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) 36-0 in the last eight.
France reached the final four after beating China 24-10 in the quarterfinals. Great Britain defeated USA 21-12 and will face France in the semis.
New Zealand, France and USA topped their preliminary pools with three wins out of three. Fiji, Great Britain and Australia joined them after finishing second in the tables. China and ROC completed the quarterfinal fixtures as best third place teams.
