SIMBA AND EAGLES CLAIM VICTORY AT UPSI 2023
The UPSI Eagles defeated KKB RC 12-5 in the Men’s Cup final on Sunday at Tanjung Malim to win the UPSI 2023 Rugby Tournament. Both sides beat their semifinalists earlier in the day, with the Eagles defeating Kasaq RC by a score of 19-7. In the other semifinal, KKB prevailed 14-12 despite a valiant effort by Phyton RC.
UCS Simba won the UPSI 2023 Women’s category after rallying from a 0-5 deficit to defeat DKI Jakarta in the cup final match. They won 12-5 to win the championship after scoring two tries in the second half. DKI Jakarta beat Job Queen 10-0 in the semifinals, while UCS Simba defeated Dingoes RC 17-12 to to advance to the final.
After defeating UPSI Eagles 24-0 in the Cup Final, UCS Lions took first place in the IPT category. In order to go to the final, the Lions destroyed the UMT Stingrays 36-0, while the Eagles defeated the BMI Bumblebees 22-0 in the other semifinal.
In the veteran category, Brob Parametric beat Sajoha Kurekure 21-0 in the final to clinch the title. KKB Tigers finished in third place after a 21-7 victory over X-Lions. The two-day tournament hosted by Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim was participated by 38 teams from Malaysia and Indonesia.
